File Extensions Blocked In E-mail

File extensions blocked by NAV  (Note, as of 10/16 we are using an alternative anti-virus so these extensions may not be the ones currently blocked).

Files with the following extensions are blocked by our antivirus software when sent/received via our email system. While zip files themselves aren't blocked, zip files containing any of the file extensions listed below will be blocked. To send or receive a file with one of the blocked extensions, you may temporarily change the extension by renaming the file.

EXE - Executable file (program, application)
AVI - Microsoft Video for Windows video clip

MPEG - MPEG animation
ASX - Microsoft Streaming Redirector File
ADE - Microsoft Access Project

CMD - Command file for Windows NT (similar to an MS-DOS BAT file)
COM - Command file (MS-DOS based program)

EML - Microsoft Outlook Express mail message (MIME RFC 822)
HIV - Unknown, standard blocked Outlook extension
