You may need to install Adobe Reader on your Macintosh in order to open the ebook, although typically the latest version of Adobe Reader installed through your web browser will be sufficient. And, as with Windows, you would need Microsoft Word or another word processing application that can open Word .doc files in order to use the prototype documents.

iPad download

Charitable Gift Annuities: The Complete Resource Manual can be used on an iPad, using the iPad’s ability to read PDF documents as iBooks. Two caveats are that the table of contents and index may display a little differently than on a desktop computer, due to the PDF reader for the iPad, and you will not be able to directly access the prototype documents as you would on a desktop machine. Steps:

(1)    Forward this email with the following link to your iPad:

(2)    Open the email on the iPad and tap on the link to open the PDF.

(3)    Tap on the document once it has opened. You should see a transfer icon with a curved arrow at the top of the document.  Tap on that icon and you should get the choice to transfer the document to iBooks. If you prefer, you can also transfer the document to Kindle Reader, or perhaps some other reader app you have on your iPad.

(4)    Open iBooks. Charitable Gift Annuities: The Complete Resource Manual should be there.

Windows install problems

It appears that you are having trouble installing Charitable Gift Annuities: The Complete Resource Manual with the third-party InstallShield installer. While it can sometimes be possible to troubleshoot such problems, we do have an alternative way to install on Windows:

Download and run this file, then click UnZip.

Note: If you had the previous version of the book installed:

(1) Click your old desktop link to see if it opens the new version, which has the October 2024 date on the upper left of the first page. If you do not, you may need to create desktop shortcuts to the CGA Manual PDF file and Prototype Documents folder, which can be found under:

C:\Program Files (x86)\PG Calc\CGA Manual

(2) Open the Prototype Documents folder and confirm that it contains 45 document files. If it contains more than that, they are probably obsolete prototypes from prior versions. To purge, delete the contents of the Prototype Documents folder (except any files you created that you want to keep) and reinstall by running the installer again.

If your Prototype Documents folder has more than 50 files, such as if you installed with the alternative WinZip installer, you may need to delete the following obsolete documents, depending on how many editions back your folder is out of sync:
